Every year, I genuinely believe that everyone should be doing new things each year, or improving it at least. At this time of my life, I don’t honestly think that we should observe the new year just as last year because it is not. I choose to consider this year to be a year of greatness and new things. Improving yourself, whether it is physically, mentally, or spiritually, is always a good thing. Therefore, I choose to create goals yearly to enhance my well-being. 

One of these goals is losing weight, particularly without exercising. My goal is to lose at least 45 pounds this year, and I am already down to 20 lbs! Are you seeking to lose 10 pounds without exercise? Well, with a little research, I have found some ways you can do just that, and it is not going to leave you hungry at the least. If you incorporate these tips for a month, you will lose weight. Though I am currently in this weight loss program that requires me to take supplements, I believe that some of these ways can genuinely assist you in your weight loss journey since I am also using these strategies.

I have always thought that exercising and eating right would help me lose weight. And yes, it did work for some time, but I gained it all back quickly (mostly due to stress eating). So this year, I wanted to try something different, and man, am I glad I did! 

Overall, I am saying that there are numerous ways for you to lose weight without exercising. And there are definitely healthier ways for you to lose 10 pounds without exercising! Still, it will require your effort, creativity, stress-relief activities, prayer with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and patience. 

*I would recommend consulting with your doctor before starting a weight loss journey. All of our bodies are different in the way we gain weight based on metabolism, age, etc. These are strictly my opinions with mildly academic support. 

Here are some ways to lose 10 pounds without exercise

This is something I learned in my weight loss program. However, this is not something new. I never used to eat my vegetable raw. I was either boiling it or cooking with some meat. While yes eating vegetables will always be right for you, eating raw vegetables has more benefits than cooked or boiled vegetables. When you cook your vegetables, the nutritional value of the food decimates, which does not nourish your body as it should. Therefore, eating raw vegetables provides your body with better digestion and more energy. 

So if you want to incorporate raw vegetables into your meal, include your raw vegetables in large portions, at least 2/4 or 3/4 of your meal. Use a small amount of vinegar dressing (such as honey flavor, if they have an at your local grocery store) for the taste. I know I do. 

Not eating after 6 pm or 8 pm 

This is a tip that has dramatically helped me with my digestion. When I don’t eat after 6 pm or 8 pm, I give my body the time to digest my food and burn fat as it should, especially If I am eating the right foods. It was a bit difficult in the beginning since I used to eat late, but I knew I had to change the way I eat. Therefore, I had to change my mindset and change my routine, which then changed my eating habits. 

Numerous studies have shown that eating late can cause weight gain and increased blood pressure. But that also depends on what you eat and how much you eat. Eating a late dinner after 10 may not be suitable for your digestion. Still, if you were eating one slice of bread or a small pack of fruit snacks, that would not really impact your digestion. If you’re eating a late dinner every day may cause impact not just your digestion but also your health. 

Eating in small portions

When I mean by small portions, I am talking about the amount of food you eat. For me, instead of eating on a regular size plate, I utilize a smaller plate. On the plate, each portion of my food is small-ish. I still incorporate many raw vegetables into my eating lifestyle, but everything else is a small portion. Also, to be more obvious, I eat these small portions 2-3 times a day, all before 6 pm or 8 pm. 

There is another option if you don’t want to do small portions. I have recently read about OMAD, which means One Meal A Day. Jenn from Millenial Next Door discusses more on this topic. This is an intermittent fasting journey where you eat for one hour then leave the rest of the 23 hours. For me, I just couldn’t do it, but if you’re willing to do this for a particular set time, then, by all means, go for it. 

Lose 10 pounds without exercise by incorporating fiber

Eating fiber is definitely essential for your body. It provides numerous benefits, such as maintaining bowel health and controlling blood sugar levels. Some fruits and vegetables contain fiber, such as broccoli and bananas. According to Mayoclinic, women under 50 are supposed to intake about 25 grams of fiber in their body. So if you’re looking to maintain or increase your fiber intake, looking at your nutritional facts when you are grocery shopping. Talking to a nutritionist and doing thorough research can be helpful as well.

I grew up with fried food. Whether we used a bit or much, oil was all I knew to cook with. In my late twenties, I learned to cook food without oil, just plain boiling water. But there are limitations to that as well. I am currently using water and spice/herbs to maintain the flavor of my food. As a result, I have felt a bit more awake, energized, and my stomach quickly digests my food. But if I was to eat cooked food that contained oil, the portion would be small to control my eating portions. 

Certain oils are right for you and some bad. Extra virgin olive oil, for example, is good for you. It contains many benefits, such as lowering your cholesterol. But with anything, there has got to be moderation. If using less oil will be one way for you to lose weight, then reduce your cooking oil usage. 

Drinking at least 80 oz of water

I don’t know about you, but I love water. When I hear my friends or coworker talk about how much they do not lie water because of its lack of flavor. However, it is understandable (I have a sweet tooth), that is really not an excuse for someone to not drink water. Our bodies are made up of water, and to maintain that water balance, we have to consume water daily. The amount of water to drink differs between individuals (from height, weight, etc.), but more than four water bottles would do enough for the day. 

The other reason for drinking water is body regulation (removing excess), reducing food intake, and not storing unnecessary fat.

Getting your 7-8 hours of sleep

Of course, sleeping is essential, right? When you get plenty of sleep, your body, while at rest, can also work on your body system by breaking down foods properly, maintain your blood pressure and metabolism. 

If you don’t get enough sleep, it’s not only highly likely that you’ll be tired the next day, but your health can suffer too. Not sleep for long or lack of sleep could lead to you having migraines, depression, and even high blood pressure. Being tired also makes us emotional, stressed, limits our concentration, and can even make us more susceptible to illnesses. If you want to get back to sleeping 7-8 hours of sleep (or depending on your body cycle), you need to change your lifestyle. One way to do that is to reduce your technology use during the night, which will be discussed briefly. Another will be eating the right food. 

When you get the required amount of sleep, you’ll definitely feel and see a difference overall in your health, your concentration, and mentality.

Limit your sugar intake

As you know, the amount of sugar to consume can be harmful to your body. However, with moderation, you can still lose weight. Now I am not saying eat sugar products every day, but as mentioned, there has to be moderation with everything. However, there can also be a sacrifice. Suppose you know that consuming sugar assist you in gaining weight significantly. In that case, you may have to limit or stop eating anything that contains a high amount of sugar. 

You can eat ice cream solely one day a week. Substitute the ice cream for something else in low calories and reduce sugar. For example, I like sweets, so I try to consume at least something sweet in my eating lifestyle by eating a one-day low-calorie chocolate bar as a snack. This has worked best for me, so I suggest you do what’s best and works for you. 

Do not expect to lose weight in one day. Weight loss differs with everyone, but changing one’s eating habits can definitely change one’s lifestyle. Therefore, these tips can truly help you lose weight if you’re serious about it.
