Living The Holy Spirit Filled Life

Living The Holy Spirit Filled Life

Did you know that you are a child of the One Holy God in the salvation of Jesus Christ? Who made the heavens, the earth, and all the living things on this earth?

So why on earth would you continue to live in the flesh? Why would you continue to live according to what you crave when your desires, the flesh, leads to death?

There’s a simple answer: we still live in the flesh. Which therefore leads to sin.

“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good As it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.” Romans 7:14-17 NIV

When we decide to live according to the flesh, we make sin greater than living in the Spirit. That is not the right thing to do!

Living according to the Holy Spirit requires you to put your flesh to death. However, sometimes, it may get difficult because the flesh and the Spirit are at warfare. And sometimes, we will sin, unfortunately. That’s when we constantly and quickly repent of our sin so that the Spirit continues to lead us every day.

We have to desire the Spirit more than we desire the flesh!

We have to make a choice every day: should we choose to live in the flesh or according to the Holy Spirit? When we live in the flesh, we do things that are against the holiness of God. God himself has called us to be Holy because He is Holy. And apart from Him, His Holiness, we will not grow spiritually mature as we should.

Yes, we are saved, but to mature spiritually, to eat solid spiritual foods, rather than still sticking to spiritual milk, we all, as Christians, need to live by the Holy Spirit. That’s part of our spiritual growth.

“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” Romans 8:16 NIV

Why? Because it is an essential part of our Christian life. It’s is how we spiritually grow to have the mind like Christ. The bible, in Romans 12:2, tells us that we can no longer conform to the pattern of this world but to be renewed in the mind so we can know the good purpose of God’s will for us [and our service to others.]

We are not children of the world, but we are children of God, who was made in His image, his likeness.

So how can we live according to Holy Spirit? This post will provide several ways you can do that.

This post is about living the Holy Spirit Filled Life

Read the Bible Daily

Reading the bible is an essential part of Christian living. It shows us how to live according to the will of God every day. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that it is alive and active and can even penetrate the heart. It unveils the most profound aspect of our hearts and revealing our innermost secrets. To read the bible to unveil the truth of the WORD of God and be sanctified by it, the Holy Spirit needs to be present. Without the Spirit, reading the bible will not give you any revelation nor truth to living like children of God.

You do not want to read the bible for the sake of reading it. We all should desire the word of God like food, a necessity. So to walk in the Spirit, invite Him to reveal the truth of the WORD of God for your life as well for whatever He desires for you to know.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to Intercede in Your Life Daily

Since we are supposed to live in accordance with the Spirit, it is pertinent that we ask the Holy Spirit our life. If you live according to the flesh, you are not producing good fruits or Spiritual fruits. For the “fruits of the flesh” seeks self, idolatry, sexual immorality, drunkness, cursing, gossiping, and all these things that are against the Holiness and goodness of God.

But what is the fruit of the Holy Spirit? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). What also happens when we live according to the Holy Spirit? We live not in fear but in power, love, and sound of mind (1 Timothy 1:7). We also are guided in His wisdom, knowledge, counsel, might, knowledge, and fear (or reverence and awe) of the Lord.

Do you see how much the Holy Spirit can do so much to change our lives if we just submit to it? Living in the flesh leads to death, but living in the Spirit brings life, which is found in the Living God.

Pray In The Spiritual Tongues, If You Can

When you pray in the Spiritual tongues, did you know that the enemy does not know what you are praying about? That’s a good thing! Because when you pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit intercedes for you, connecting to the Father, God, about what you really need in your life. That’s already a submission to the Holy Spirit because you are willing to pray in spiritual tongues!

It truly is a desirable gift to have and use, but praying in your language is good as well. Do not let anyone tell you that you need to speak in tongues! God still loves you no matter what! It is not necessary, but it is a blessing to have in your life (1 Corinthians 14:4-5). Again, the spiritual tongues edify self (or improves their spiritual self) and speak directly to God about what they really need to enhance their spiritual self with the intercession of the Holy Spirit.

Desire more of God by Devoting your Time to Him in prayer (Matthew 6:33)

Prayer, which is talking to GOD, is more than just a communication to God; it truly is a spiritual act that glorifies God. By submitting to the Holy Spirit constantly, your desire to talk to God, to communicate with Him, is increased. God desires us more than we imagine. We are from Him; we are His creation, so why not go to Him?

Even thinking about the vastness of His love for us and mercy for us is unimaginable! Bless His name, yall! He deserves our praise and our worship more so because He is God, and no glory or power is greater than Him.

So why live a life that does not represent the essence of our God? Therefore, devoting our time to Him, mostly just ourselves, is all He needs to remind us of His love for us and being more close to Him.

Clothe yourself with the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5)

As mentioned, The Holy Spirit is more than just a being living inside of us. He is part of the Trinity, who is one with God. He contains the tools and resources we need to live like Christ and as a Child of God. One way to live in the Spirit or acknowledge if you live in the Spirit is by His fruits. Are you living in love? Are you living in joy? Faithfulness? Sef-control?

All of these fruits are the opposite of the flesh. The flesh seeks joy but in itself, not the joy that is filled with the Joy of the Lord and the servitude of sharing the joy with others.

Constantly Reject our Flesh and Put It To Death (Galatians 5; Romans 8:12)

The flesh is deceiving, but it is also an enemy of God (Romans 8:7-8). So if you desire to live in the Holy Spirit, you need to constantly reject the flesh. Jesus says in Matthew 16:24 that if we desire to be His disciples, we must deny ourselves and follow Him. We must take up our cross and follow Him. What does it mean when He says to take up your cross? As a Christian, you will go through trials. Jesus Christ went through trials himself, of dying for our sins which nailed Him to the cross because He was doing the will of God to save us from death.

That will be the same with us. Doing the will of God requires us to take up the cross, to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Now we may not die per se, but we must be willing to endure and walk through the trials that we will face for the will and glory of God. But we are not alone; we have God on our side! And the Holy Spirit who can help us in the most challenging times of our life.

But just know that just because you are going through a trial does not mean that you can’t overcome it. Jesus Christ already nailed all these trials to the cross! All you need is for you to have the mind of Christ and walk in the Spirit, overcoming all powers and authority that have already been disarmed at the cross!

“And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Colossians 2:15 NIV via biblegateway

Oh, the love and fullness of God!

I also urge you to declare and decree that you are no longer obligated to live in the flesh, whether in your mind and body. Speak forth and declare that you live in accordance to the Spirit and that He will guide you into all truth! The more you pray and declare this, the more you will submit to the Spirit. Then you, yourself, will see the Spirit be at work in your life!

You are a child of God who is loved by Him. Nothing can ever separate you from His love, not even the flesh. But to fully embrace the goodness and blessings of God that He has prepared for you, willingly submitting to the Holy Spirit opens doors to encounter more of God.

Hope this post blessed you.

Until Next Time.
