God’s Love Greater Is Than Your Shame

God’s Love Greater Is Than Your Shame

For the longest time, I felt shame for my sins. Like I mentioned in my last post, pornography was something that I struggled with, and I felt terrible about it after watching it. And not many times did I come to God about it because I felt scared and really thought to myself that He was not going to forgive me.

The enemy puts these lies in your mind telling you, “God will never forgive you” or “You are not worthy of forgiveness.” Though I knew the truth that I would be forgiven, I would sometimes get stuck with the lie.

I would come to God to ask for forgiveness, but sometimes I would not. However, that one day, when I said enough was enough, I went to God, asked forgiveness; He heard my cry.

The Lord changed my life, and I can ultimately say, again, that I am free from pornography. But there is a root to pornography, such as lust, sexual immorality, and the likes, which I must put to death every day.

I limit what I watch; therefore, I no longer watch certain movies or tv shows that include sexual or promiscuous content.

But let’s get back to the topic of things. Did you see how I just changed the subject?

God Will Forgive Your Shame

Shame is something that happens to all of us. We have acted on sin, and we may feel shameful not to come to God to ask for His forgiveness. Well, let me tell you something.

1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us all our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” You might tell yourself that it may be difficult to come to Him about this particular sin.

You might be even be thinking that God is mad at you and, therefore, He could never forgive you. Again, let me tell you something else, sin is a sin, no matter how big or small it is. Even James mentioned that if you break one law, you break all of the law (James 2:10).

But also know that God is slow to anger, but His love bounds (Psalm 86:15).

Forgiveness is by faith

But remember, forgiveness is not a feeling; it is by faith. Just like we received the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior by faith, so should we believe that God will cleanse us from all of our sins by faith.

It’s the truth!!!

I would encourage you to read the parable of the wandering sheep (Matthew 18:10-14), the parable of the lost coin (Luke 15:8-10), even the lost son (Luke 15:11-32). Even if you have gone astray, return to Him, and He will forgive you.

He Gives Greater Grace

Also, you are not too far from His grace, because His grace is greater (James 4:6). He is near to all who fear Him, acknowledge Him, and know that His love abounds so much.

I would also encourage you to read Psalm 103, I just read it today, and it made me feel touched and reminded me of His love again and again.

Just know that you are not perfect. He alone is perfect. He is the only true God that knows our hearts and makes us whole.

We ALL need God

We all experience shame, but let us not be proud enough to not come to Him and ask Him for change. I was proud almost all my life and but I had to let it go because that was a hindrance to myself but also to see God for who He truly was. God does not despise a broken heart since it expresses the truth from the heart (Read all Psalm 51). Sin is not something to play with, though it is a struggle. But we have God who is greater than our sins, and He knows us more than we know ourselves.

Do not be doubtful of God’s love. It’s more than we can imagine. He’s not a human that He should lie, nor a human being that He should change His mind (Numbers 23:19).

Do not let the enemy think that God is not enough, nor is His love enough to forgive you. Resist Him (James 4:7)!

God’s Love Is Greater Than Your Shame

If His WORD said that He will forgive you, then it is true! There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1), OUR LORD and SAVIOR!

Sanctify yourself by His Truth every day (John 17:17), reminding yourself of His everlasting love for you. Jesus Christ prayed this particular verse (John 17:17) so that you and I recognize the Truth of GOD’s Word and Who God really is! He truly loves you! It took me a while to believe it, and I would like you to believe it firsthand, receive it, and live in it!

His Love Covers All Shame, not just some shame. ALL y’all! His perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18).

Be Kind To Yourself

Also, one crucial thing: forgive yourself. Be kind to yourself. Don’t put yourself down when you sin. Quickly ask for forgiveness, believe by faith that you have been forgiven, and keep walking forward. God does not remember our past, nor should we. Though it may be in our thoughts from time to time, God remembers your sins NO MORE. Psalm 103 really will help you with this!

If you need prayer about this, don’t hesitate to email me. I would be glad to intercede for you in prayer. As the body of Christ, we really need to be there for each other, no matter who we are and where we are in our walk with the Lord.

I hope this post blessed you.

Until next time.
