Casting Your Cares On The Lord

“Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22 NIV

Do you have concerns this season? Or any seasons, to be honest? Especially with everything that is going on, you may question things you are seeing in your own life. You may be asking about your health, your job, your future, and even thinking about what will happen next in this nation and the world.

And you know that? You can be concerned. It’s a fact that YOU don’t know what is going to happen next. It is okay to observe what you may not have. However, it is BETTER, and even necessary, to consider the goodness of GOD and how God will turn the tables, your situation, around. Plus, He will make all things work together for the good of His children, for those who love Him. Don’t you think that it is better to believe this about God and less of your concerns?

What do I mean by this?

What I mean is this: your focus on the Almighty God, who opens His hands and satisfies our every need and supplies our every need, is better than focusing on what we lack or think we lack.

Therefore, if we let ourselves receive the concerns of this world, receive situations that arise from left to right, and touch us in any way, then our focus will solely be on the trouble, rather than on the ONE who makes those troubles small. Because we have a great GOD. Our GOD is bigger. Did you know that?

“Do not be terrified by them, for the LORD your GOD, who is among you, is a great and awesome GOD.” Deuteronomy 7:21 NIV

So what should we do? What should we do with our concerns? Our worries? We should and need to cast our cares to the LORD our GOD.

Sowing your seed (Mark 4)

I was reading Mark 4, about the parable of the seeds. But when I read this the other day, several verses struck me. It was from verses 18-19 when Jesus was explaining the meaning of the parable.

“18 And others are the ones on whom seed was sown among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, 19 but the worries and cares of the world [the distractions of this age with its worldly pleasures], and the deceitfulness [and the false security or glamour] of wealth [or fame], and the passionate desires for all the other things creep in and choke out the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” AMP Translation

“18 And what is sown among thorns represents those who hear the message, 19 but they allow the cares of this life and the seduction of wealth and the desires for other things to crowd out and choke the message so that it produces nothing.” TPT Translation

When I read this, I considered how some of us receive the WORD of the LORD but also have the mind of the world. To have the reason of the world is a distraction and ungodly, and it does not fully receive the Word of GOD in its fullness.

And you see how this verse talks about worldly pleasures and the distractions of this age? I consider this to be like some of us. We read the WORD, but we let the WORLD’s distractions get in the way of walking in the way of the LORD.

Casting Your Cares On The Lord: Renew Your Mind

Therefore, it is pertinent that we renew our minds according to Romans 12:2 so that we can fully accept and walk with the WORD of GOD by faith. When we abide in the WORD of GOD, abide in Christ, our seeds multiply, bearing fruits of righteousness! Be careful what you let in your mind, be filled with the truth of GOD’s WORD.

The LORD desires to fill us with the things we cannot imagine. He desires to not just meet our needs but our wants. But if we let the concerns of the WORLD, better yet, follow the ways of the world, getting ourselves concerned with the things of the world that it draws us away from GOD, and His WORD, then we are in trouble.

You Reap What You Sow

Remember, a man reaps what he sows. So, to whom are you casting your seeds of concern? If you are casting your seeds of cares to the LORD, you will reap PEACE that surpasses all understanding that guards your mind and heart in Christ Jesus (Phillippians 4:7). But if you are casting seeds of cares to the world, you are reaping more care, concerns, and worries! The more you feed on your cares, the more you draw yourself away from GOD.

The LORD has a plan for the nation, better yet, the WORLD. That is not bad news, that is VERY good news. I wrote a WORD from the LORD weeks ago that I urge you to read. It will bless and encourage you to seek the LORD while He may be found.

Casting Your Cares On The Lord

Why Cast Your Cares

So why is it important to cast your cares to the LORD any time of the hour, and what will happen if you do so?

  • You will live in peace (Philippians 4:7).
  • You become faithful in GOD’s promises [Joshua 1:8].
  • You believe GOD’s WORD to be true [John 1:1].
  • Your focus will be on the kingdom of the GOD and His righteousness, the things above and not below [Matthew 6:33; Colossians 3:2].
  • Not worrying about tomorrow [Matthew 6:25-34].
  • You are walking with the Holy Spirit of God [Romans 8:5-9].

Speaking Into Existence

One important thing that I would like to mention is regarding our tongue. Our tongues have the power of life and death, and whoever loves it will love its fruit (Proverbs 18:21). So even when you have concerns, be careful what you speak over your life. I urge you to not speak lack nor negative to your life (nor the lives of others) but rather WORDS of encouragement, words that nourish your bones (Proverbs 16:24).

Controlling the words we say is critical in these times. Let our voices, our tongues, encourage lifts our spirits, giving us hope, and praising the LORD always. If you need encouragment, speak the WORD of GOD in your life. It is alive and active you know (Hebrews 4:12).

Hope this post blessed you.

Until next time.
